His favorite TV show is Full House because it’s funny, and his favorite movie is Red Fury. Jody’s favorite artist is Blake Shelton. His favorite thing to do in his spare time is to ride horses because it’s fun. Jody enjoys going to Moscow Schools because you get to have shop here. His dream place to live is Las Vegas because he can go to the NFR (National Finals Rodeo).

Amori Meile is this week’s first grade’s spotlight. Amori’s favorite colors are pink, purple, and blue. When I asked her if she could have any super powers what would it be? She said, “I would like to be invisible because then I can hid from my cousin Aidrn Miramontes, and he could never find me.” She has two siblings, one baby brother Asher Meile, and one little sister Adalyn Meile who is 3 years old. Her favorite game to play is leap frog. She likes to play leap frog with her little sister. Her favorite television shows are Tom and Jerry and Power Puff Girls. When I asked her if she liked being in first grade, she said, “Yes, because my mom is my teacher, and now I get to see her everyday.” Amori’s favorite thing to do in school is to write with a ruler and make fun things. Her favorite book is any kind of book. Her favorite food is chicken nuggets. Her favorite school lunch is chicken. She said in her free time, she likes to play games with her little sister and baby brother and read all sorts of books. When she gets home from school, her favorite snack is sour candy. ![]() This edition the spotlight is on Jacob Friessen. Jacob is six years old and obviously, by the title, is the kindergarten spotlight. Jacob is the fourth oldest and the son of Ben and Maria Friessen. Jacob has two sisters as well as three brothers. His brothers are, in order from oldest to youngest: Johan, he is ten years old; Benny, he is three years old; and Peter, he is two years old. Jacob’s sisters are, in order from oldest to youngest: Sarah, she is twelve years old; and Maria, she is eight years old. Jacob says that his favorite thing to do is to ride bikes with his brothers and sisters. Jacob says that they do not have T.V. at their house, but he likes to watch movies at school. His favorite snack is Hot Cheetos because “they are my favorite chips.” Jacob’s favorite time of day is the nighttime because he gets to rest after his long day of work and play. Jacob’s favorite color is green, “just cuz.” After school Jacob likes to go home and color pictures of all different kinds of things because he likes to color and draw. That is all about Jacob Friesen. ![]() by Miranda Christensen, Freshman Cambria Phillips is a new fourth grader at Moscow Elementary School. Her parents are Dustin and Cynthia. Cambria’s favorite school subject is math because it’s interesting. When I asked Cambria what her favorite color was she said, “Red because I like it and I wear it a lot.” She likes baseball, football, soccer, track, and volleyball because she likes sports and is a sporty person. She likes to play sports, read or go somewhere in her free time because when she’s bored she does stuff she enjoys. She has two brothers Gunner and Kadence. When I asked Cambria what she likes about being in fourth grade she said, “I like learning stuff that I don’t know because when I grow up I will have to know those things.” Her favorite foods are corn and spaghetti because corn has a flavor she likes and spaghetti because she likes noodles and meat. If Cambria could have super powers, she would have flexibility and also know what people will do before they do it because she would want to be flexible and it would be cool. When Cambria gets older, she would like to be a rock scientist because she likes to collect rocks and wants to know what they are made of and why they are hard. ![]() by Miranda Christensen, Freshman Caitlyn McIntire is the spotlight this week. She is new at Moscow. Her parents are Lori Kraisinger and Smitty McIntire. Caitlyn’s favorite school subject is math because it’s sometimes easy. Her favorite color is lime green because she likes bright colors. When I asked Caitlyn what sports she likes, she said, “Volleyball and cheer because they are fun, and I like being loud.” In Caitlyn’s free time, she watches TV and plays volleyball and also hangs out with friends because she likes relaxing. She has three siblings, who are Devin Kraisinger, Marshall McIntire, and her half-sister, Grace Farris. She also has one stepbrother and one stepsister, Dalton and Bree. Caitlyn would rather live in a small town because bad things can happen in big cities. Her favorite food is Taco Rings because it’s just like tacos. When I asked Caitlyn if what super powers she would like to have she said, “To be able to fly because then I wouldn’t have to walk anywhere.” Caitlyn would like to be a cosmetologist because she likes doing hair and nails. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s close to her birthday also because it celebrates Jesus’ life. When I asked Caitlyn who inspired her she said, “My mom because she supports me in any way that makes me feel good about myself.” ![]() By Tad Stuckey, Junior In this edition, the staff spotlight will be Perla Adame. Perla has three kids, her twin boys Alex and Julian and her beautiful daughter Elizandra. Her favorite part about working in Moscow Schools is having the chance to work and help students learn. In Perla’s free time she likes to go to dances. She said they are a good stress reliever. Her favorite food to eat is red enchiladas. The movie she said was her favorite is The Little Mermaid because she has liked it since she was little. She doesn’t have a specific favorite song because she likes all Mexican music. Perla’s favorite part about Moscow is how small the town is, and she said she really likes the peace and quietness. She teaches Spanish, French, 6th grade geography and health. Michelle’s parents’ names are Gloria and Larry Daniels. Michelle’s favorite subject is her language classes because she teaches them, and she loves to use her languages when she travels. Her favorite color is Royal Blue because it’s calm and peaceful and really pretty. Michelle’s favorite TV show is Caso Cerrado; she watches it while she’s grading papers, and her favorite movies are Planes and Braveheart. Michelle’s favorite artist is Rob Thomas, and favorite song by Rob Thomas is “Someday.” Michelle enjoys teaching at Moscow because she likes the people she works with and the students, and there are not as many problems as there are in big schools. Michelle’s dream place to live is Coeur d’alene because it’s beautiful; there are tons of lakes and it’s green. ![]() by Tad Stuckey, Junior This edition’s spotlight for the staff is Principal Gregory D. Brown. He is new at MHS this year, and he said his favorite part about working here at Moscow “is getting to know the kids and see them succeed. I want them to be successful and a good education will help that.” In his free time, he likes to watch football and do some hunting because that’s what he likes to do. His favorite book is the Bible and Maverick is his favorite movie. When asked what his favorite food was, he replied, “Steak because I like it.” A horse is his favorite animal. He has seven kids: Tami, Heath, Jake, Josh, Levi, Leah, and Stephen. He also has three grandchildren. Their names are Sophia, Kynlee, and Laney. He said what he likes about Moscow so far is how everyone is so friendly. His favorite kind of music is country, with his favorite song being “People are Crazy” by Billy Currington. The role model he chose was Paul Harvey. The reason he said Paul Harvey is his role model is because he tells it like it is and tells the truth. He doesn’t beat around the bush. Will Brown is the Teacher Spotlight. His parents are Kent and Lorna Brown from Syracuse, Kansas. Mr. Brown has 2 siblings. Their names are Chris and Drew. He teaches social science for 8th graders through seniors. He coaches boys’ basketball this year. This is his first year working in Moscow as a teacher. Mr. Brown’s favorite thing about working on the staff at Moscow is the students because he enjoys watching them learn and take an interest in the subject. Mr. Brown lived in Syracuse before he came to Moscow. He went to college at Kansas State because he has so many great friends there. He likes to travel and read in his free time. When I asked Mr. Brown what his favorite color was he said, “I love all colors because I like to keep it diverse.” He likes the Kansas Jayhawks because his granddad played football there. Mr. Brown’s dad inspired him to become a teacher because his dad is a great math teacher. The Fourth Grade Spotlight is John Friessen. He is new at Moscow Elementary School. His parents are Ben and Maria Friessen. John has three brothers. They are Jacob, Benny, and Peter. He also has two sisters. They are Sarah and Maria. His favorite school subject is reading because he likes to learn a lot of new things while reading. When I asked John what he liked about being in fourth grade he said, “I like to do math because I like to learn division and multiplication.” John’s favorite sport is basketball because he likes making hoops. He likes to draw in his free time because he likes to draw new things. His favorite food is pizza because he likes the taste. If John could have super powers, he would like to be able to rescue people because he would like to save lives. His favorite place he has ever been is Bolivia, South America, because he likes to visit all his cousins. His favorite holiday is Christmas because he gets lots of presents.
