![]() Yamilet Rojo is a sixth grader at Moscow Junior High. Her parents are Marivel Rojo and Carlos Rojo. She has one sister Yareli Rojo. Her favorite color is hot pink because it is a bright color. She likes basketball because it was a lot of fun. Her favorite school subject is Keyboarding because she gets to learn all the keys. I asked Yamilet what she likes about being in sixth grade and she said, “I get to be in Junior High.” Her favorite food is Chinese food because it’s different from Mexican food. Some of Yamilet’s hobbies are hanging with friends and watching movies. Yamilet would rather live in a big city than a small town because “There would be a lot more stores.” Her favorite college team is the Longhorns because she just likes them. Her favorite movie is Despicable Me 2 because it’s very funny. When I asked Yamilet what she would like to be when she gets older, she said, “A doctor, so I can help people.” Hope you like Junior High this year, Yamilet!

![]() by Miranda Christensen, Freshman Grayson Brooke Christensen is an eighth grader at Moscow Middle School. Her parents are Kevin and Lorie Christensen. She has three sisters, Miranda, Christen, and Alyson. Her favorite school subject is lunch because she loves food. Grayson’s favorite colors are Blue and Lime Green. She likes to play basketball because it gets her anger out. In Grayson’s free time, she likes to mess around with her friends, because she likes to hang with her friends. When I asked Grayson if she would rather live in a small town or a big city, she said “Big, because there are more things to do.” Her favorite food is “every food because I love to eat.” If Grayson could have super powers, she would want to be a mind reader, so she knows what people think about her. When she gets older, she would like to be an eye doctor, so she can get a lot of money. Her favorite holiday is her birthday because that’s when spring begins. KU is Grayson’s favorite college team because they’re really good at basketball. When I asked Grayson who inspired her, she said “My Grandpa, because he has gone through a lot in his life. His wife died of cancer, and he had to be a single father. He inspires me to Never Give Up.” That is the eighth grade spotlight. ![]() Blaze Johnson is a fourth grader this year at Moscow Elementary. His parents are Ruby and Troy Johnson. He has two brothers, Braxton (who is a sixth grader) and Braylon. He likes basketball because he likes to shoot. In Blaze’s free time, he plays games because it is very fun. His favorite school subject is math because he likes to learn. Blaze’s favorite color is Lime Green because it’s bright. What Blaze likes about being in fourth grade is his friends, so he can talk to them more. His favorite food is pizza because he likes the taste. When I asked Blaze if he could have super powers, what would he have, he said “Lasers that come out of my eyes, so people won’t be mean to me.” Blaze’s favorite place he has ever been was Hutchinson because it is very fun there. His favorite holiday is Christmas because he can get lots of presents. When Blaze gets older he would like to be a water rig worker, so he can be like his dad. Yamile was not able to tell me who her parents are because their names are in Spanish and was too shy to tell me. Yamile is eight years old. Yamile has two sisters and two brothers. Her brothers are Beto and Fabian. Beto is 18 years old and Fabian is six months old. Yamile’s sisters are Daisy and Esma. Daisy is seventeen years old and Esma is twenty-one years old. Yamile likes to play on the monkey bars at recess, just because they are fun to play and hang on. Her favorite thing to do at school is math because she gets to learn a lot about lots of things. Yamile’s favorite television show is Sam and Cat. She likes Sam and Cat because it is really funny. Yamile’s favorite color is baby blue because it is a light color and is pretty. After school Yamile goes to the after school program. She thinks the after school program is really fun. When Yamile grows up, she wants to be a teacher. She wants to be a teacher because she likes to teach people all different kinds of stuff. Yamile likes Christmas the most because she thinks that getting presents is the best thing ever. That is all about Yamile Flores. ![]() by Madison Owens, Sophomore This edition the kindergarten spotlight is on Yarely Torrez. Yarely is five years old. She is the daughter of Veronica and Tony. Yarely has one sibling, Jacob. Jacob is her older brother, but she does not know how old he is. On T.V. Yarely likes to watch scary movies because she likes the movie with the mask that has it’s mouth open. Yarely likes fruit snacks and cereal just because that is what she likes to eat for a snack. Yarely thinks that the coolest color is pink, and she likes to put it in her room. When Yarely grows up, she wants to be a doctor because she likes doctors and thinks they help people a lot. Yarely likes all kinds of holidays because they are all special in their own way. After school Yarely goes to REAL. Yarely likes REAL because she gets to do lots of crafts. She also likes to play Duck, Duck, Goose because “it is lots of fun and you get to run around.” When I went to interview, Yarely she was sitting next to me. She looked at the paper I was writing on and she saw how I had written her name on top of the paper and said that I had written it wrong. She took the paper and showed me how to write her name correctly, even though I had spelled it right, I just didn’t write it correctly. That is all about Yarely Torrez. by Kelsi Mueller, Sophomore
This week’s 10th grade spotlight is David Miramontes. David’s favorite colors are blue, aqua and teal. If he could have any superpowers, he would want to be invisible, be able to read people’s minds, and fly. The reason he wants to fly is because he said,”flying is awesome.” David has two brothers Omar and Jorge Miramontes. His favorite TV show is Community. His favorite game to play is Uno because it gets intense. David likes being in 10th grade. He said, “It’s better than being a freshman.” His favorite subject is lunch “because there is food.” David doesn’t have a favorite food; he likes a lot of food. But his favorite school lunch would have to be pizza. In his free time David likes to hangout with his friends and goes to Hugoton with Jorge, Alexis, and Amir. ![]() by Hailey White, Junior Anay Rodriquez is a 2nd grader at Moscow Grade School. Anay is 7 years old; her birthday is May 5. Anay’s favorite subject in school is Math; she loves math because “you get to learn more.” Anay loves being in Mrs. White’s class. She said, “Mrs. White is a nice and fun teacher.” After school sometimes Anay attends the after school program; she likes to go because she can do her homework and get help on it, and she gets to play her favorite game magnetic science. If Anay doesn’t go to the after school program, she goes home and watches her favorite TV show “Girl vs. Monster.” She also likes to hang out with her friends; she hangs out with Megan, Kate, Eddy, Jacie and Katie. But her absolute favorite thing to do is play “Just Dance 4” on the wii. She likes the game because you get a ton of points for dancing, and dancing is so much fun. Anay’s favorite color is purple; she likes purple because it is her mom’s favorite color. Anay has 4 members in her family including herself, she has her mom and dad, and her brother Martin. Anay loves her family very much! Anay loves going to school in Moscow because you get to learn so much more here than in other schools. ![]() This week’s spotlight is a fourteen-year-old freshman at Moscow High School, Bryan Garcia. His favorite song is “Terrorist” by lil Wayne. Bryan’s favorite movie is Blood in, blood out. He likes the movie because it is about gangs and killing and getting a lot of money. He has five people in his family, him, his mom, his dad, an older brother and his little brother. Bryan likes high school because he has better classes, and it’s a lot better than junior high, and he gets to finally play high school sports. His favorite color is burgandy red; he really likes that color because it is a dark color. His favorite TV show is Spongebob because it is really entertaining and Spongebob and Patrick are hilarious and crazy. Bryan’s favorite subject in school is weights; he likes the subject because he is trying to get stronger for sports. Bryan likes going to Moscow Schools because all of his good friends come to the school, the classes are a lot better, sports, and the school lunch is really good. I asked Bryan what he wants to do when he graduates high school; he said he wants to go to college and study diesel engineering. This week’s spotlight is Brock Brazeal. Brock has three people in his family--Billy, Kristy and Reed. His favorite things to do on his free time are hang out with his girlfriend Hailey White, chill with all of his crazy and fun friends, go to Hugoton with all of his friends and chill, and his most favorite, play Xbox with Matt and Chris. Brock does not have a favorite subject in school because he really does not like school that much. If Brock could live forever, he said he would live for family and making money. Brock’s favorite TV show is Teen Wolf on MTV. Brock’s favorite sports to play during school are football, basketball and baseball. I asked Brock if he liked to play spots he said YES that is the only thing he likes about school. His favorite color is blue because it’s the color of the sky. Brock’s favorite song is “Rap God” by Eminem. He does not have a favorite artist because he likes a bunch of other artists. His favorite thing about going to Moscow Schools is that it is a small school and all of his friends go to Moscow High School. When Brock graduates from high school, he wants to go to a two-year college and study cop work.
![]() by Brock Brazeal, Junior For the 5th grade’s spotlight, we have Brayden White. Brayden is 10 years old, and his birthday is March 11. Brayden has five people in his family including him. There are his sisters Hailey and Talley, his mom Velvet, and his dad Craig. In Brayden’s free time, he likes to play football and spend time away from his sisters. Brayden also likes to participate in all the sports he can play. Brayden participates in basketball, baseball, and football. Brayden’s favorite subject in school is reading because he likes to read. Brayden’s favorite show to watch is Duck Dynasty. When I asked him why, he said, “cause it’s funny.” Brayden’s favorite color is blue; when I asked him why, he replied, “because it is a cool color, and I like the way it looks.” Brayden’s favorite song is “We Will Rock You” and it is by QUEEN. Brayden likes going to Moscow Grade School because he knows everybody, and all of his friends go here. Brayden wants to be a doctor when he grows up. When I asked him why he replied, “Because I like to help people and make them feel better.” |
