This edition’s staff spotlight is Krissann Brittany Roland. Krissann has two kids, Audric, who is 9 years old and is in 4th grade, and Khloe Noelle, who is 2 and turns 3 in December. She says her favorite thing about working at Moscow Schools is she went to school here, and she likes the small school atmosphere. Krissann also likes working with the kids, and she has a really flexible schedule, and it’s also the same as her kids. She also loves being involved with the school. In Krissann’s free time she likes to garden outside with her husband Nathaniel, play with her kids outside, cross-stitch, and visit with her family. Krissann said that macaroni and cheese and corndogs are her favorite food. She doesn’t have a favorite book, but she loves to read a variety of books by Janet Evanovich, the Harry Potter series, and Nora Roberts. The movies she said are her favorite were Top Gun and Family Steve. There are two songs she says are her favorite, and those are “Maxine Nightingales” and “Right Back” where we started. Krissann has two role models, and those are her mom and her grandpa Eric. Her mom is her role model because she is battling MS, and she still thinks of others and puts everyone else before herself. Grandpa Eric is also one because even when he was at his worst he never complained about his pain; he just wanted to make sure they would take care of each other. Krissann says her favorite animals are her Chihuahua, because of its tiny, fun personality, and its pocket-size. She also loves cats; she is a self-proclaimed cat lady! Krissann has lived in Moscow her whole life; she only left for school. She says she likes the small town because she knows everyone, we’re all friendly, the school, and the teacher-student ratio.

![]() by Miranda Christensen, Freshman Deja Renee Megenity is this spotlight for this week. She lives with her grandparents who are Judy and Henry Cantrell. Deja has one real brother, Nolan Megenity, two half brothers, Ezrah and Leighton Megenity, and two step-brothers, Bryce and Zaryk. Her favorite school subject is math or English because they are good and go by the fastest. Deja’s favorite colors are neon pink, hot pink, purple, and lime green because they are bright. She likes volleyball and softball because they are her favorite sports. In Deja’s free time, she likes to chill with Cristina and hang out with all of her other friends. She would want to live in a small town but bigger like Hugoton. Her favorite food is enchiladas, mostly all Mexican food, because it’s good food. If Deja could have super powers, she would like to read other people’s minds so she knows what they are thinking. When Deja gets older, she would like to be a nurse because she can help other people. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s Jesus’ birthday and it’s not always about presents. Her favorite college team is Kansas University (KU), because she thinks they are amazing. When I asked Deja who inspires her, she said, “I have a few people who inspire me but my first one is God, my second is my grandma and grandpa, and my third is the rest of my family and my best friend because I don’t know what I would do without them.” ![]() by Miranda Christensen, Freshman The sixth grade spotlight is over Clemente Rojo. His parents are Marina and Clemente Rojo. He has one brother Edwin Rojo. Clemente’s favorite school subject is math because “You have a fun time!” He likes basketball because it’s a fun sport to learn. When I asked Clemente what he liked about being in sixth grade, he said, “Sap [morning break] because when you don’t eat in the morning, it’s a lifesaver.” His favorite color is red because it’s the color of his last name. When Clemente gets older, he would like to be in the Navy Seals, so he can fight for our nation. His favorite food is pizza because it tastes good. One of his hobbies is hanging out with his friends because friends make you feel better. He would rather live in a small town because there is less population and it’s calmer. Clemente’s favorite college team is K-State or the Longhorns because they are good at sports. His favorite movie is Fast Seven because it has action. His parents are Jessica and Jason Granados. He has one brother Fabian, who is four years old. He also has three sisters. His favorite school subject is P.E because he likes dodge ball so he can throw. Angel’s favorite color is purple because its K-State’s color. He likes football because you get to tackle people. When I asked Angel what he does in his free time, he said, “I like to play and watch T.V because it’s the only thing to do.” He doesn’t like fourth grade because it’s boring. Golden Corral is his favorite food because it’s good. If he had super powers, he would want to be able to read people’s minds because you get to know what they are thinking. When I asked Angel what he would like to be when he gets older, he said, “I would like to be a kick-boxer because I get my anger out.” Lego Land is his favorite place he has ever been because you get to build legos. Sara Pinkham is this week’s 10th grade spotlight. Sara’s favorite color is pink. If she could have any superpowers, she would want to be invisible. The reason why Sara said she wants to be invisible is just because it would be fun. Sara has two little sisters, Amanda and Alean. Her favorite T.V. show is Long Island Medium or Vampire Diaries. When I asked her if she likes being in 10th grade, she said, “ Yesm because I only have two more years til I graduate.” Her favorite subject is reading because she likes to read. Sara doesn’t have a favorite book. She said,” I like a lot of books.” Her favorite school lunch is chili and cinnamon rolls. In Sara’s free time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends because they mean a lot to her and she always has a blast with her friends. When I asked her who or if she had a hero, she said, ” Yes, I do. My hero is my grandpa. He taught me so much, he loved me and everyone else unconditionally. There is also his mom, his dad, and he has three older brothers and one younger brother. His older brothers are Amir, Aaron, and Gaby. His younger brother is Diego. Adan goes to the after school program, and his favorite game to play is Checkers. When Adan is not at school, he likes to play Playstation 3. Adan’s favorite game to play on the Playstation is Grand Theft Auto. Adan has two favorite colors, and they are black and orange. When I asked him why those colors were his favorite, he replied, “Just because I like them.” Adan’s favorite thing to watch on T.V is basketball. I asked him why, and he said, “Because I like playing and watching basketball.” Adan’s favorite subject in school is P.E because it is fun, and he likes all the games they get to play in that class. He is 14 years old. He is the son of Javier Marquez and Veronica Mendez. He has 5 members in his family. His favorite subject is lunch because he likes food. Javier’s favorite color is blue. His favorite TV channel is the Weather Channel. His favorite movie is El Inferno. Javier’s favorite song is “Chug a lug” by Roger Miller. In Javier’s free time, he enjoys playing basketball. This edition’s 1st grade spotlight is Carson Kennedy. Carson is six years old and has one brother and one sister, and, of course, he has his two parents. He said he doesn’t go to the after school program very much, but when he does his favorite thing to do is going into the kindergarten room and playing self-selection time. Carson says his favorite thing to do after school is his homework. When asked his favorite color, he says it is blue because it is blue. Carson says his favorite T.V. show is Spongebob Squarepants because it is awesome! Carson said his favorite subject in school is learning because when he gets older he wants to be able to help all his kids with their homework. This spotlight is Tad Stuckey. His favorite song is “Berzerk” by Eminem. He likes the song because it goes hard. Tad’s favorite animal is the tiger; he likes the tiger because they will tear anything up, and it kills a lot of animals, so they can eat. Tad has six people in his family--his mom, dad, brother and two sisters. Tad thinks that the best thing of high school is that he is much closer to graduating and going to college and getting out on his own. His favorite thing to do on his free time is play some sports. Tad’s favorite color is blue; he likes it because it stands out a lot. His favorite TV channel is ESPN. He likes ESPN because he likes a lot of sports. Tad’s favorite subject in school is Individual Instrument because he gets to play the marimba with Amir and Ivan; he also likes it because it’s the last hour of the day, and it’s an easy class. This spotlight is Nazareth Knox. Nazareth’s nicknames are Naz, Nazi, Shorty, and Snookie! Her favorite artist are Kirko Bangz and Juicy J. She likes them because she is a really big fan of them. Nazareth’s favorite animal is a blue-eyed pit-bull; she likes that animal because she has three of those dogs, and she really loves their eyes. She has four people in her family--her mom, dad, and her little brother. Nazareth’s favorite thing about high school is that it is more laid back then junior high, and there is less drama. Her favorite thing to do on her free time is hang out with family and friends and have fun. Nazareth’s favorite colors are black and red. Nazareth likes coming to Moscow High School because she thinks it’s a lot better then Hugoton High School. Her favorite TV channel is MTV because all of her favorite shows are on there. Nazareth’s favorite subject in school is physical education class because it is the easiest class she has. When she gets out of Moscow High School, she wants to go to college to become a neonatal nurse because she gets to work with babies, and she also wants to be a cosmetologist. |
