It’s about twelve o’ clock, and you’re so ready for lunch. You head over to the lunchroom, sit down, and drool over how good the food looks. You take a bite into it, and it’s nothing like how you thought it would taste. It has no taste.
In 2012, Michelle Obama decided it would be best if school lunches cut down on fatty foods because of how much America’s obesity has increased. She thinks that’s the reason for obesity increasing is because of school lunches. In my opinion, I think not.
Children eat however much they want at home; they should be able to eat at school, too. We students are starved by the time lunch comes, and we leave starved because they aren’t allowed to serve us that much food. Most students have Physical Education classes; they get to work it off. Also, there are students involved in sports, who need the extra food, so they don’t pass out in practice.
For example, I asked J.J Gonzalez how he felt on this topic and he said, “I feel like we should have a choice in how much we eat. If the government is going to take our food away, then they should just stop trying. For example, if someone is hungrier than you are, obviously they are going to need more food because they are starving.”
Now for Jesus Gallegos' opinion, “Now we can't sell food in school because of Michelle Obama because she banned it. Sometimes parents pay good money for their children to eat food, and if they get a lot of food, they can go home not hungry. Sometimes the parents work late hours, and they don’t have time to go home, make them food, and then go back to work. They want to trust the school that their children will be fed properly. “
Brittney Stuckey's opinion is “I think that it’s stupid because I really enjoy food and just because she is going a diet doesn’t mean the whole United States needs to go on a diet. And I don’t want to pass out when practice comes around, I want to be full still.”
Mrs. Knoll’s opinion, “I feel like students are not getting enough food, especially students who are involved in activities, and I don't think that Michelle Obama understands that some kids have athletics after school that they burn a lot of calories in."
