Do you like the dress code at Moscow High School? Do you agree or disagree with the dress code policy? The U.S.D. 209 Moscow High School Handbook dress code states: “Students are to be neatly and appropriately dressed at school and when representing their school at approved activities and events. The appropriateness of questionable clothing shall be determined by the school administration.” With that said how would you distinguish what is neat and appropriate? Some things that I think are neat and appropriate or not might not be considered that to others and vice versa.
For example, some people have a problem about not wearing pajama pants to school. Sometimes I have a problem with not being able to wear pajama pants to school. What is it going to hurt the school if we wear pajamas to school every once in awhile? Pajama pants, no doubt about it, are not very neat attire, but if you had a bad night and got up late and you throw on pajamas, or just wake up and come to school, at least you’re here, right? You can still learn in pajama pants. If you wear pajama pants every single day, then maybe you should get it together, but if you wear pajama pants once a week, I think it should be acceptable.
Other issues people have with the dress code include not being able to wear hats, or wearing cut offs, and the arms-down short length at school. I agree with no hats in school because I believe that wearing any type of hat in school or in a building is just disrespectful, and that all hats should be off when you enter into any building. I personally feel that we should not be able to wear cut offs to school because I believe that people need to be modest and cutoffs after a certain point are too revealing and immodest.
The next issue is the rule where your shorts have to be longer than your fingertips. I am a girl who likes to wear jean shorts and athletic shorts (not including basketball shorts that go past my knees). Most girls can get away with some jean shorts that go past their fingertips, but for some with extremely long arms that almost goes down to their knees, it’s hard to find jean shorts that go past your fingertips and especially sport shorts. But it is also a problem with people who have shorter arms because then they can have a shorter length of their shorts. This rule I think is that the shorts should be a reasonable length, but not all the way past your fingertips, but not short short so you can see half of your rear.
