Son is the fourth book in The Giver series. Son at first is a flashback.
A girl named Claire was put into the birth center, and she was pregnant. Claire was chosen to have kids; she had complications when she had her baby. After that they made her switch centers. Claire went to the fish hatchery. Claire wanted badly to know whom her kid was, and if it was okay. One day she decided that she would go to the nurturing center and find out whom her baby was, so Claire left early and went. She told people she wanted to help for fun, and they told her how they split the babies up by the order they are born. Her kid was number 36, so she went and helped; she held her son that day. Almost every day you could find Claire at the center; she loved her son, but she learned that he was a mess. He never slept and it made the night shift mad, so a man would take him home at night even though he has a family. After a year her son had not gotten better; they were going to kill him. At the home where the young boy slept at night, a boy Jonas fell in love with him, so he took the baby Gabe and ran away. Claire was so upset; she jumped on a boat hoping to find her son again someday.
Claire was on land, but she couldn’t remember her old life; life at sea was rough. Over time she remembered. Then she wanted to find her way out. But there was only one way out and that was to climb. She had a friend train her and after 2 years she climbed out. When she got to the top, she met a man named Trade Master. He told her where her son was for her youth, and she accepted it. She was an old lady, and she knew who her son was, and the boy who took her son. She never had the guts to tell them who she was until a few years later. She finally told Jonas, and he believed and remembered her. Jonas was so angry with Trade Master and that he was back. Claire was dying and very sick, and they still haven’t told Gabe. But finally Jonas did and told Gabe that he know that Gabe has a gift, and so Gabe goes out to kill Trade Master. In the end of the book, Claire is young again and everything is good and Trade Master is gone for good.
This book is a good book; it may seem confusing at first,
but you will not want to put it down in the end.
